Is OSB layer a good subfloor for laminated panels (quick-step)?

i heared OSB will not survive if a washing machine floods floor. is it true ?

also i am concerned about formaldehyde issued by OSB. is it dangerous if covered by laminated panels? Is OSB layer a good subfloor for laminated panels (quick-step)?
The OSB will be just fine. Its strong, durable and cheap. No matter what subfloor you have, if your washer floods, and the water sits for any period of time...there's going to be damage.

As far as the formaldehyde, you aren't going to be able to run from it. I know its making headlines in the news with all the crap going on with FEMA and New Orleans. But the fact is, its in most of the products that are used to building houses for the past 20 years. If you're house is older than 5 years, most of the problem is already gone, so you don't need to worry. Is OSB layer a good subfloor for laminated panels (quick-step)?
I have used it under vinyl tiles and it has been no problem - even under a washing machine - it is generally weather proof (it is often used for site hoardings) so seem to resist the occaisional spill - I chose it because it was as cheap as chips.

Don't know about formaldehyde - maybe you should steer clear of any manufactured board (or plastic laminate which is made of urea formaldehyde after all) if this is a major concern to you.
