Just installed a bubble bar into my 20G tank. Now have a layer of ';bubbles'; on the surface?

I got a thing called a bubble bar it is very similar to a bubble wand, just in the form of a bar. Since i installed it, along with the gravel in my twenty gallon tank, it has created a layer of bubbles on the surface of the tank. I am just wondering if this is normal or what is up? The tank is 24'; long and the bubble bar is 18';.Just installed a bubble bar into my 20G tank. Now have a layer of ';bubbles'; on the surface?
If the bubbles don't pop immediately, then this implies that there is some sort of impurity in the water that is keeping the bubbles together.

You know when little kids blow bubbles using a mixture of soap and water, and those bubbles hold together for almost a minute? Yeah? Well, there's something in your water that is acting like the soap. That something is holding the bubbles together so that they don't immediately pop. It might be something that dried onto the bubble wand, or something that dissolved into your water and came from a decoration.

Here's what you can do. Try bubbling the bubble wand in some other container that isn't your tank. If the impurity is on the bubble wand, then the bubbles in the new container will stick around for a little bit. If the impurity is in your tank water, then the bubbles in the new container will pop immediately. Either way, you'll know where the source of the impurity is. If the impurity is in the bubble wand, try rinsing it under tap water a couple times and testing it again. Don't use soap. If the impurity is in your tank water, then try removing all of your decorations and rinsing them, and doing a couple water changes. Good luck. This happened to me and it was some coating the manufacturer left on the gravel and it took forever to clean.

By the way if your tank is new and you haven't added fish yet, then you might want to consider fishless cycling the tank. http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/articles_51鈥?/a>
