What are the causes and effects of a decrease in the ozone layer?

what will happen to humanity if theres such a sudden decrease in the ozone layer? What are the causes and effects of a decrease in the ozone layer?
For over 50 years, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were thought of as miracle substances. They are stable, nonflammable, low in toxicity, and inexpensive to produce. Over time, CFCs found uses as refrigerants, solvents, foam blowing agents, and in other smaller applications. Other chlorine-containing compounds include methyl chloroform, a solvent, and carbon tetrachloride, an industrial chemical. Halons, extremely effective fire extinguishing agents, and methyl bromide, an effective produce and soil fumigant, contain bromine. All of these compounds have atmospheric lifetimes long enough to allow them to be transported by winds into the stratosphere. Because they release chlorine or bromine when they break down, they damage the protective ozone layer. The discussion of the ozone depletion process below focuses on CFCs, but the basic concepts apply to all of the ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

In the early 1970s, researchers began to investigate the effects of various chemicals on the ozone layer, particularly CFCs, which contain chlorine. They also examined the potential impacts of other chlorine sources. Chlorine from swimming pools, industrial plants, sea salt, and volcanoes does not reach the stratosphere. Chlorine compounds from these sources readily combine with water and repeated measurements show that they rain out of the troposphere very quickly. In contrast, CFCs are very stable and do not dissolve in rain. Thus, there are no natural processes that remove the CFCs from the lower atmosphere. Over time, winds drive the CFCs into the stratosphere.

The CFCs are so stable that only exposure to strong UV radiation breaks them down. When that happens, the CFC molecule releases atomic chlorine. One chlorine atom can destroy over 100,000 ozone molecules. The net effect is to destroy ozone faster than it is naturally created. To return to the analogy comparing ozone levels to a stream's depth, CFCs act as a siphon, removing water faster than normal and reducing the depth of the stream.

Large fires and certain types of marine life produce one stable form of chlorine that does reach the stratosphere. However, numerous experiments have shown that CFCs and other widely-used chemicals produce roughly 84% of the chlorine in the stratosphere, while natural sources contribute only 16%.

Large volcanic eruptions can have an indirect effect on ozone levels. Although Mt. Pinatubo's 1991 eruption did not increase stratospheric chlorine concentrations, it did produce large amounts of tiny particles called aerosols (different from consumer products also known as aerosols). These aerosols increase chlorine's effectiveness at destroying ozone. The aerosols only increased depletion because of the presence of CFC - based chlorine. In effect, the aerosols increased the efficiency of the CFC siphon, lowering ozone levels even more than would have otherwise occurred. Unlike long-term ozone depletion, however, this effect is short-lived. The aerosols from Mt. Pinatubo have already disappeared, but satellite, ground-based, and balloon data still show ozone depletion occurring closer to the historic trend.

One example of ozone depletion is the annual ozone ';hole'; over Antarctica that has occurred during the Antarctic Spring since the early 1980s. Rather than being a literal hole through the layer, the ozone hole is a large area of the stratosphere with extremely low amounts of ozone. Ozone levels fall by over 60% during the worst years.

In addition, research has shown that ozone depletion occurs over the latitudes that include North America, Europe, Asia, and much of Africa, Australia, and South America. Over the U.S., ozone levels have fallen 5-10%, depending on the season. Thus, ozone depletion is a global issue and not just a problem at the South Pole.

Reductions in ozone levels will lead to higher levels of UVB reaching the Earth's surface. The sun's output of UVB does not change; rather, less ozone means less protection, and hence more UVB reaches the Earth. Studies have shown that in the Antarctic, the amount of UVB measured at the surface can double during the annual ozone hole. Another study confirmed the relationship between reduced ozone and increased UVB levels in Canada during the past several years.

Laboratory and epidemiological studies demonstrate that UVB causes nonmelanoma skin cancer and plays a major role in malignant melanoma development. In addition, UVB has been linked to cataracts. All sunlight contains some UVB, even with normal ozone levels. It is always important to limit exposure to the sun. However, ozone depletion will increase the amount of UVB, which will then increase the risk of health effects. Furthermore, UVB harms some crops, plastics and other materials, and certain types of marineWhat are the causes and effects of a decrease in the ozone layer?
Haha, ozone layer? We always smell ozone after a lightning strike, or after some electrical explosion. We got our ozone layer after some pretty powerful lightning blasts rocked our planet a while back.
main cause is green house gases which are noramlly extracts from Air conditioners.

Effect is raise in temperature. By this ice will melt from poles 9antarktika and arctika). increase in sea level etc etc
liek i said previously the ozone layer id decreasing which will cause the whole earth to burn so goodbye for us...lol seriously its the truth
burning plastics, wheel and other things that has chemicals
it will alow the u-v rays which is harmful to health of the people and which results in skin irritation, eye problems and other problems.

it would have gone away after a while, and if not, then you might need to see a doctor

If salt is soluble in water, why can you see a layer of dissolved salt at the bottom of a beaker?

The beaker is filled with hot water and salt is added to it. After some time, crystals form and a separate gooey salt particle layer is at the bottom. Why?If salt is soluble in water, why can you see a layer of dissolved salt at the bottom of a beaker?
If crystals actually formed, it is probably because the water cooled down. The amount of salt dissolved exceeded the amount that could be dissolved in the water, and the salt crystallized out of solution. This seems very unlikely with the amount you give though - wikipedia cites a solubility of about 18g salt per 50mL water at room temperature.

However, what you are describing sounds more like there was a layer of more concentrated salt solution on the bottom. This will show up as a waviness at the bottom, like how stuff looks distorted when viewed through hot air. This occurs because more concentrated salt solutions have a higher density and higher refractive index than water. Thoroughly mixing the water should mix the layers, and the waves should go away.If salt is soluble in water, why can you see a layer of dissolved salt at the bottom of a beaker?
The hot water will dissolve more salt than cool water.

When hot, it is not a saturated solution if salt deposits can't be seen.

As the water cools, and salt crystals form on the bottom, the solution is Super-saturated and, on cooling it can't keep the same amount of salt in solution...it drops out as semi-solid and solid crystals.
the mixture is a saturate solution and what your seeing is excess salt. Im not sure what the ratio is but water can only contain so much salt. after that the rest cannot dissolve and would clump at the bottom
The solution could be saturated, meaning that the maximum amount of salt has already dissolved into solution. The salt layer at the bottom is excess that did not dissolve.
Is the water still hot?

Read up on what Dreamweaver calls 'Layers', but what in html are really called Divs'. You can set a background to a Div and then add text within the Div, or you can layer the Divs over each other.

On a clear, calm morning, water condenses on the ground in a thick layer of dew. As the water slowly evaporate?

On a clear, calm morning, water condenses on the ground in a thick layer of dew. As the water slowly evaporates into the air you measure a slow increase in dew point. Explain why.On a clear, calm morning, water condenses on the ground in a thick layer of dew. As the water slowly evaporate?
Dew point is an indicator of the amount of moisture content in the air.As the water slowly evaporates from the surfaces(where dew forms),it enters the air as water vapor increasing the moisture content of the air. So,dew point which depends upon this water content also increases. On a clear, calm morning, water condenses on the ground in a thick layer of dew. As the water slowly evaporate?
Because when a liquid transform to a gas it absorbs heat thus lowering the air temperature and raising the dew point.

I need to ice a 5 layer cake the wedding is sat and my thing is should i start icing tommorrow or tonite?

Start the frosting now. When the cake is frosted it actually seals in the moisture in the cake. If the cake is in the freezer now take it out and thaw in the refrigerator. Begin frosting as soon as you can.

I am assuming that you are using a regular butter cream frosting. (Not an Italian butter cream.) The butter cream will hold up until your event. You know that busy bakeries don't do all the cakes at the last minute.

Frost each tier and wrap and refrigerate the tier and put it together on Saturday. Make sure that you have enough icing to fill in cracks, and place around the bottom of each tier. You can put your supports and spacers in now as well.I need to ice a 5 layer cake the wedding is sat and my thing is should i start icing tommorrow or tonite?
I always ice the cakes frozen. I find it is easier if the cake is stiff. I am pretty sure that's what they do in the grocery bakeries.
i think the sooner the better you will never know when something unexpected will come up
Tonight. and in the morning just frosting it.

How much does a ';two surface layer'; white filling cost?

About $200 bucks. I pay only $60 because of this great plan I have. www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago and they have saved me thousands of $$ since. From fillings, exams, xrays...etc. All services are included in this very affordable plan. Cosmetic Dentistry to orthodontics are also included. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. good luck and hope this helps. How much does a ';two surface layer'; white filling cost?
The two surfaces are not layers. It just means that the filling with cover two surfaces of the tooth.

In my office a two surface tooth colored filling on a back tooth would cost $225, but would be a bit more if it were on a front tooth due to more time and detail having to be put into a filling on a front tooth. How much does a ';two surface layer'; white filling cost?

How do you tile an image in photoshop? - I have a small shape I want to tile - and not hit duplicate layer 20x?

I don't want to hit duplicate layer.

    I'm using photoshop cs3

Come on design heads! How do you tile an image in photoshop? - I have a small shape I want to tile - and not hit duplicate layer 20x?
Lets say you want this tiled in a pattern, five across and seven down.

Place the first tile in the upper left corner. Copy it and then duplicate it.

Place the second tile next to the first. Repeat this four more times until you have the first row laid out.

    Flatten the image.

Next, copy the first level of tiles. Duplicate them six times and place them, in their own rows, below the first.

So, in total, you make four copies of the first tile, and then six copies of the first row, for a total of ten ';copy and paste'; operations.

You can even save a couple of steps by laying down the first two rows and copy and pasting both rows at the same time, to make the first four rows. Copy and paste the four rows to make the NEXT four rows.

So, you can do this with only six or eight operations instead of twenty or more. How do you tile an image in photoshop? - I have a small shape I want to tile - and not hit duplicate layer 20x?
    What do you mean?

If you're using it for a background, just tile the image with css properties on your web page.

I've always seen and actually have assisted the ';tear off';/disposal and replace w/new paper and shingles, for rough winters (lots of snow) we use the metal roofing, heavy snowfall will fall/slide off and not accumulate where you suffer damage w/conventional roofing, i.e. leaks, collapse etc...may cost a lil' more, but really really lasts, prob lifetime :-) also they come in various colours.....Happy roofin' hope I was a smidge helpful...
Take off the old shingles. When I lived in New Jersey in 2001, we were told that there could be up to three layers, but no more. Removing the old and the paper underneath you can see any defects, rotten spots, mildew, etc. Good Luck ! ! !
My husband was a roofer for ten years, and they always tore off the old layer of shingles. Apparently, there are many problems that can arise from leaving old layers on. It's more work, but better in the end.
some people place old over new;but,to do it correctly, take off the old shingles.

this allows you to see if there is any wood damage on the roof.check to see if any wood needs to be replaced.if so,replace them.
you can place new over old , depending on so many things..

it is best to remove old ones ,if any damage is visible at all.-

  • Is it ok to put another layer of shingles on my roof?

there is already 2 layers on the roof now. I have had 2 contracters tell me it's ok and the extra weight will not matter. I'm considering a much heavier shingle than what's on there now. it's a ranch stlye home around 2000 square feet. house was built around 1965Is it ok to put another layer of shingles on my roof?
Hi, I'm a professional roofer, expert at it at least, getting close to mastery.

Different states have different building codes. Some states say three is the legal limit, others like Ohio where I'm from, say two layers and no more. Regardless of the legal mumbo-jumbo, there are a few things to consider first:

    1) Is there possibly a wood problem underneath the current shingles?

    2) Placing newer shingles over older ones often reduces the lifespan of the new.

    3) How much cost difference is there between leaving the old and tearing it off?

    4) Considering that cost difference, do you really want to leave the old, knowing that it will reduce the lifespan of the new? (so next time replacement comes 5-10 years sooner, if not more)

    5) How good a quality are the old, and their condition? (are they going to continue to deteriorate, and reduce the life of the new even more?)

    6) How good a quality will be the new? There are some brands of shingle out there that I wouldn't even put on a doghouse. These will not last over old. I have a friend right now who bought a house with 5-year-old shingles; he's had the house two years since, the shingles are SHOT. It had been stripped down to wood, all the old torn off. I won't mention the brand here on this site, but I'm told there is a class-action lawsuit against them right now. Cheap shingles from a ';good';, recognizable name brand.

Do your homework. You can email me if you wish and I'll tell you some decent brands to stick with and the one to avoid.

Also: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check out your roofer THOROUGHLY. I personally have had to fix many ';new roofs'; and ';repairs'; by individuals and companies that don't know their butt from a hole in ground. It is amazing how many contractors there are out there that are ';reputable companies'; and don't know what they are doing.

Probably the best thing to do is ask friends, neighbors, etc. who they personally would recommend -- ask many people. Only listen to their recommendation if they personally had that company do work -- no name-dropping. A lot of marketing flooding an area can make a single name stand out more, but you cut through all this by looking at their work. I wouldn't use lists by agencies that back so-and-so. It's too easy to get put onto a list, and few get taken off once they are on. There's a company here in Central Ohio that is popular with the public due to lots of advertising and size of the company, but if you asked a true professional in the field -- we wouldn't let them within eyesight of our roofs. So beware. Ask friends and neighbors who has done their work. Go with one or two companies whose names come up most often as having done excellent work.

If it were my house, I would strip it all down to wood and look at the wood, fix any wood properly, then build it back up. Make sure that a good underlayment is used (tar paper, ice guard, etc.). Some roofers won't use any, some use very thin. The thin stuff can be OK, but you have to take things like roof pitch, funky architecture (such as an area that might trap a lot of snow and ice), and various flashing issues, all taken into consideration.

Spend the extra money on a longer lifespan (40-50 years) shingles and a company that knows what it's doing. There isn't a lot of difference in the wholesale cost of better shingles, so if a contractor charges a huge amount more, find someone else. Also take into consideration the windspeed of storms (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.) -- different shingles have different windspeed ratings. Some won't stand up to a good storm. In Florida for instance, lots of hurricanes have made that state very strict on what is passable for shingles. Malarky shingles (yes, I did say Malarky, a name brand) is one of the best for windspeed durability. Funny, isn't it? But they are not available everywhere, I can't even get them here in Ohio.

Hope this all helps, as I said, you can email me if you wish. I have my own company and various friends also with their own. Between all of us, I have access to over a hundred years worth of experience, close to two hundred between myself and all my friends, added up of course.

Oh -- a tip: if the contractor brings a camera and is willing to do up pictures for you of the roof and it's various issues, it says a lot about their honesty. Digital cameras are wonderful -- you can take a zillion pictures up there, burn them onto a CD and give it to a customer that can't or won't get up on the roof.Is it ok to put another layer of shingles on my roof?
If the roofers you talked to have a good reputation they would know better than I. I have heard about multiple layers of shingles being put on houses but I do not know how many layers is acceptable.
    3 is the max
I recommend you strip off all of the shingles. Then you can inspect for bad plywood. Never put shingles over top of previous shingles.A newly roofed house should last from 25-40 years depending on the type of shingle installed.
I would not recomend any more then 2 layers I have seen some put on three but there subjuct to leaking and then you need to worry about yourf ply-wood under all this. and you say it was built in 1965 REPLACE THE SHINGLES AND CHEC THE PLY-WOOD
Normally only two layers are put on then the next time new shingles are needed the old ones are stripped off.
I am a home inspector. Each additional layer of shingles takes approx 5 yr off the life of the top layer. So, if you put on a 3rd, count on losing approx 8-10 yr off the normal life. The weight would depend on the size of rafters or trusses and if you get snow. The cost of removing the old is not so much compared to having a roof failure or losing 10 yr off the life. If you trust the roofer and they will guarantee the life and the damage, and will that company be around in 10-15 yrs to take care of you, then go for it. Also many insurance companies limit houses to 2 layers and will not cover if 3 layers are on house.
do you get snow load? is the sheeting OK? simply putting new on old is not always the best. have them pull a row near the eave down to the sheeting, that is where damage would most likely occur. if OK, go for it.
I would remove the old and then add the new, my personal preference. It will cost a little more to have someone remove the old and dispose of them. I do most of my own work on my house, so, It only cost me the price of new shingles and Roofing nails. But, I understand many people may have to hire this done. IF, you do then consider the Costs of both approaches, if you can justify removing the old, then I would. Good Luck.
I would'nt do it. tear off the shingles to the plywood then re-shingle. dont trust those contractors.
Do you trust the contractors? Are they licensed? I'd follow their advice then.

In the long run, it's better to replace rather than to cover.
that's good to have several opinions-professional ones. Apparently these contractors are saying these existing shingles must not be in bad shape that could cause these new ones any problems, weight wise etc. See what the price difference is and it may be in your best interest to go ahead and have these removed. Have you checked these people out like with the Better

Business Bureau? I'm just saying this because my Dad wound up one time having a job done and had to turn around and pay out more in the long run. It wasn't with shingles but it was with contractors. Good luck to you and enjoy your new roof to come!
It depends what state you're in. Sounds like it ok if the contractors are ok-ing it. I'd say if you haven't had any problems with the roof leaking, or pieces of the old roof coming off, then go ahead and put on a 3rd layer. But I don't know how long they'd be able to ';warranty'; the roof for..

But if there are any problems at all, strip the 2 layers off, inspect for problems in the wood, and then put on a new roof. Different shingles have different life spans. Anywhere from 10 to 40 years. This is the way I'd go. Too many problems with layers!
The problem is that the felt layer can go bad too. I think it is a general rule to just have 2 layers of roofing. With the 3rd roof, have the 1st and 2nd layers removed as well as the old felt paper. Then have an bad spots of wood on the roof bigger than a walnut removed and fixed, then new felt paper and then the best quality new roof you can afford. Most of the cost is in the labor so if you can afford to upgrade to lifetime shingles, you are better off instead of getting 15 year shingles.
It is absolutely not OK. I wont even put shingles over 1 layer. They need to be taken off, and the roof sheathing needs to be checked. If the sheathing is OK then shingle the roof. Make sure the attic is vented correctly. A poorly vented attic can take many years off the life of your shingles.

What is the layer of the skin that connects it to the deeper layers of the tissue?

he skin is made up of three distinct layers.

The top layer is called the epidermis. (The word epidermis, and the name of the other main skin layer, the dermis.

The second layer lies deeper and is called the dermis. It contains blood vessels, nerves, hair roots and sweat glands.

Below the dermis lies a layer of fat, the subcutaneous fat. The depth of this layer differs from one person to another. It contains larger blood vessels and nerves, and is made up of clumps of fat-filled cells called adipose cells.

The subcutaneous fat lies on the muscles and bones, to which the whole skin structure is attached by connective tissues. The attachment is quite loose, so the skin can move fairly freely.

http://www.pg.com/science/skincare/Skin_鈥?/a>What is the layer of the skin that connects it to the deeper layers of the tissue?
The mesoderm is the middle layer, between the endoderm and epiderm. What is the layer of the skin that connects it to the deeper layers of the tissue?
    epidermis
Epithelial is the outer, then subcutaneous.
-the epidermis is the outermost layer

-the basal cell layer is the innermost layer of the epidermis

-the squamous cell layer is located above the basal cell layer

-the stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis , is made up of 10-30 layers of continually shedding, dead keratinocytes

-the dermis is located beneath the epidermis and is the thickest of the three layers of the skin, this layer regulates temperature
im not sure call the local library B%26amp;T section they will look it up and answer any question even cooking ,, but i thought its facia subcutaneous dermis epidermis but i could be wrong as Im ,,,an olde dude
    subcutaneuos (sp?) layer
It is called subcutaneous tissue. The epidermis (which is the part of skin that you see) has 5 layers. The dermis (which is below the epidermis) has 2 layers and the subcutaneous tissue (which contains blood vessles, sweat glands and fat) connects it all to your body.

    Sounds like subcutaneous

    LAYERED RAINBOW JELLO SALAD

2 (3 oz.) boxes cherry Jello

2 (3 oz.) boxes orange Jello

2 (3 oz.) boxes lemon Jello

2 (3 oz.) boxes lime Jello

2 (3 oz.) boxes blackberry Jello

    3 3/4 c. Carnation milk

This salad fits well in a 9 1/2 x 13 1/2 Tupperware cake tote. Grease bottom of Tupperware container with Pam. Start a day ahead making this salad as each layer must set. Be sure pan is level in refrigerator so each layer sets evenly.

Step 1: Mix 1 box of cherry Jello with 3/4 cup hot water, then 3/4 cup of cold water. Let set.

Step 2: Mix 1 box of cherry Jello with 3/4 cup hot water, then instead of using cold water, use 3/4 cup Carnation milk. Let set.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 with the remaining four flavors. You will have 10 layers of Jello, but very thin as to reflect rainbow. How do i make 7 layer jello?
One layer at a time!!!! good luck!!!
One layer at a time - let one layer set, then pour in the next color..etc, etc....
It is a time consuming dessert. You have to wait until the previous layer sets before you pour the next one on and so on. This recipe describes how to do it:
    That takes too much time.

I would mix the flavors together, its gonna go down your stomach one way or another.

How do you layer your bangs?

I like to wear my bangs to a side rather than in the center of my head. My bangs are just a bit shorter than my hair, and my hair goes just about an inch and a half past shoulder length. I want to layer my bangs so that when I wear them to the side, they aren't in my eye, but are still longer than my forehead ( I hate the bangs above the eyebrows look)How do you layer your bangs?
I like my bangs to the side too.. I cut my bang my-self and they don't look bad so I do know what I am talking about... When you cut them cut at an angle, and kinda chop the ends, so don't just cut across. When your cutting make it shorter twords the middle and longer as you cut twords the side.. Make the langth as long as you would like. Hopfully you understand these directions cause it works great on my bangs! How do you layer your bangs?

Is there a link between ozone layer and global warming or global warming and the ozone layer?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!!!:)Is there a link between ozone layer and global warming or global warming and the ozone layer?
    NO!

Ozone layer relates to freons (carbon, flourine, chlorine) which use to be used in refrigeration and aerosols. In 1974, Rowland and Molina discovered this. In 1978 CFC's were banned, 1987 Montreal Protocol 50% drop in CFC's. The ozone problem is healing itself. The Remaining chlorine reacting with the O2 that should be forming ozone will basically wear itself out and be gone.

Global Warming on the other hand is a result of many things, primarily increased CO2 levels caused by burning fossil fuels. You can relate global warming and greenhouse effect, but that is another story. Is there a link between ozone layer and global warming or global warming and the ozone layer?
    yes
Yes. Some of the chemicals that can disturb the ozone layer also affect global warming, either directly or indirectly.

Would an at-home hair dye work if I only want to dye the bottom layer?

I have a darker blonde hair color that is wavy but i'm about to get a straight perm which I was also wondering how that would turn out if I did that at home. But anyway, I want to dye the bottom layer of my hair a dark brown. My mom would probably do it at home and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with doing that and how it turned out. And if you don't believe that would turn out about how much would it be to get that done at a salon (I live in a small town in P.A.). Oh and In case your answer depends on the length of my hair it is a little past my shoulders. Thanks!!! =)Would an at-home hair dye work if I only want to dye the bottom layer?
ok first... dont go playing with too many chemicals on your head at once. you WILL FRY YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!!decide if you want to perm or color........... i would suggest color first, and skip the perm altogether.... the perms really screw up hair if not done correctly, just use a ceramic flat iron to smooth it out.... no chemicals needed......... as for at home color,,,, find one you really like,,, i have found the best drugstore brand is GARNIER.....Would an at-home hair dye work if I only want to dye the bottom layer?
    i dont see why not!

  • Does red meat release methane gas?..if so is it enough to harm the ozone layer?

I heard something about this on the radio. Came in the middle of the conversation. They were saying that by not eating meat, vegetarians are harming the earth?!?!?!Does red meat release methane gas?..if so is it enough to harm the ozone layer?
No red meat does not release metane gas, but cows because of eating large amounts of grass do. When organic matter decomposes it releases gases but not enough to harm the ozone layer.Does red meat release methane gas?..if so is it enough to harm the ozone layer?
Yes, red meat farts alot when it is alive and mooing.
Cows produce methane when they burp, but methane is not harmful to the ozone layer. It is, however, a greenhouse gas, which in large amounts will cause global warming. Considering that the majority of red meat eaters eat beef produced on large scale cattle ranches and the amount of methane produced from those large numbers of cattle, it would be safe to say that meat-eaters are contributing significantly to global warming in addition to other associated environmental problems such as bacterial pollution from feces run-off and overgrazing of pasture lands. .
The amount of cattle on earth and the amount of meat you eat will do absolutely NOTHING to the Ozone layer. Ozone is destroyed with chlorine based compounds. Methane adds to the GREENHOUSE effect which is completely different.

North America survived fine with millions, maybe even billions of buffalo and now people are worried about cows? Nuh uh...

The biggest problem with greenhouse gasses comes from our cars, second biggest comes from industries.
The answer above is correct about the source of the gas, but the comment about the ozone layer is irrelevant.

Methane is a greenhouse gas and much more effective than carbon dioxide (about 20x more effective if memory serve me correctly).

I want to create a large workspace by covering a sheet of plywood with a layer of thin copper sheeting. Tips?

What kind of tools will I need to bend the copper around the edges of the wood and secure it underneath? Will this be hard to do? What gauge should I use? About how much would it cost for a 2 feet by 8 feet sheet of copper?I want to create a large workspace by covering a sheet of plywood with a layer of thin copper sheeting. Tips?
16-18 gauge copper would probably do the trick.

As others have said, the copper will be EXPENSIVE! Are you sure you need *copper*? A tube or two of liquid nails thinly and evenly troweled on the plywood, or perhaps some gorilla glue will adhere it nice and evenly. Clamp it down near the edges by clamping a piece of metal barstock or a 1x2 even with the plywood edge. You can either bend it down or hammer it down, depending on how you want the edge to look, and then either nail or screw down the edges.

To give you a ballpark (on the high side) of what the copper might cost McMaster Carr ( http://mcmaster.com ) has copper sheeting 12'; by 36'; and 0.04'; thick for $101.85 (USD) and that's not even half the size you need.I want to create a large workspace by covering a sheet of plywood with a layer of thin copper sheeting. Tips?
copper is crazy money right now .. Try using sheet metal . Call a hvac duct supply company can bend the edges for you
Buy Formica/Wilson Art/Pionite/Nevermar that looks like copper, it'll be cheaper, ook the same and be much more durable.

And you can easily work with it with a router and mica bit.

    - Copper lover and collector.
Copper is big for $$$ right now. Cash in what you have and buy sheet metal. Not sure why you want metal. All our work tops are plywood. When you are drilling it will save bit tips if you hit wood instead of metal. You can screw in stops for sawing. Sorry couldnt be any help. m
All you really need is a hammer and maybe a 2x4 or straight edge to help keep it flat. You might want to use some adhesive though under the copper so it doesn't tend to pop up or make annoying popping sounds.
copper is a poor choise for many reasons

    it tarnishes quick

it is soft and easily dented

    very expensive

requires special skills to be able to work it

forget copper use stainless steel if you need a metal surface.

Why does galvanised (coated in zinc) iron unlikely to go rusty even when the zinc layer is scractched off?

I dont understand..Why does galvanised (coated in zinc) iron unlikely to go rusty even when the zinc layer is scractched off?
The answer is simple: NO! It does not.

The zinc layer protects the iron molecules from the attack by oxygen molecules in the air. Destroy this protective layer, and you got yourself ';rust';. If you have witnessed a scratch that does not rust, it ain't deep enough.

Here is an experiment: buy a small galvanised vessel - put plain old salt in it. The salt will eat off the zinc in no time (forming ZnCl2), and then the iron starts to rust. Why does galvanised (coated in zinc) iron unlikely to go rusty even when the zinc layer is scractched off?
Zinc will protect the iron from rusting because zinc is more reactive than iron. When some of the zinc layer is scractched off, the iron and zinc metal are exposed to water and oxygen. In the presence of water that acts as electrolyte, it forms an electrochemical cell. Zinc being more reactive than iron will act as anode and undergoes oxidation whereas iron will act as cathode and undergoes reduction. Since it is zinc that undergoes oxidation, zinc will form oxide and it will protect the iron metal from rusting.(iron cannot form iron oxide or rust)
If the scratch is small enough, the zinc is able to still protect that area. As long as there is zinc present on the surface of the iron it will provide some protection.

The zinc is sacrificial to iron (it will corrode first, thereby protecting the iron).

How long will it take for the sun to burn thru the Ozone layer??

We really do not have to worry about Global Warming?? The earth will no longer Exist??How long will it take for the sun to burn thru the Ozone layer??
We are hoping that the ozone layer will repair itself. Its easy to say that we can protect ourselves with heavy sun screen and hiding indoors. The problem,of course, is that everything else needs to survive outside. Our plants and animals can only take so much. The land may be scorched eventually.

Oh, and the sun is not burning through the ozone layer. This is another man made disaster. Our massive use of chloro-florocarbons such as freons is the problem. These carbons escaped and rose to the ozone layer. Thet reacted with the ozone diminishing the amouny of ozone so much bo that wholes in the ozone layer began to show up at the north and south poles. How long will it take for the sun to burn thru the Ozone layer??
Its not gonna burn through anything ozone and global warming arnt related its co2 gas with global warming. and the amonia molecule with ozone reduction.
With no ozone layer, the earth will continue to exist. It just might be wise not to venture outside, that's all.
We will need to cover our skin with a very powerful sunscreen in 40 years.

You have to worry ! Global warming is a fact.
Who cares when its gonna burn through??Everyone is gonna die one day...why worry about it so much.live life happily with no worries.
wat u talkin bout tha earth will no longer exist
ask yourself, how long has the sun been trying to burn the Ozone layer? know one has that answer because we don't have enough data! we need probably 500 years to make any case!
The earth has been through global warming many times before, and it will heal itslef as it did when giant molten balls of hot gas the size of our moon hit it at the speed of light, or when the magnetic poles reversed i can go on and on but we will all be dead before you can name everything thats happened to this little blue/green ball we call earth.

Using ozone to replenish the ozone layer?

The chemical formula for ozone is O3. Why cant we break up oxygen molecules, combine them into ozone molecules and use it to replenish the ozone layer?Using ozone to replenish the ozone layer?
The why is probably because the ozone in he ozone layer is formed by the natural photochemical processes that occur at that atmospheric distance above the earth. You just can't put a plug in a hole in the layer. you would need to find a combination of reactants and reactions at that level that regenerate ozone (and other free radicals) naturally.

The Hungarians also make nice version of Linzer torte and Opera Cake, if you can find a good Hungarian bakery try some and then experiment with them yourself, some can be made with just doctoring up a yellow cake mix and simple store bought products, like the Lemon-Poppeyseed one I mentioned.Does anyone have a good Hungarian Layer Cake recipe?

Even if you have a small layer of fat on yyour stomach and you cant see the muscle, does it mean that?

Even if you have a small layer of fat on your stomach and you cant see the muscle, does it mean that the muscle isn't growing underneath when you do crunches and sit-ups and how can you tell if your gaining more muscle in your stomach?Even if you have a small layer of fat on yyour stomach and you cant see the muscle, does it mean that?

you can still feel your abs if you have only a thin layer of fat over it. You can even have a 6 pack under that fat if you work out enough. But usually the fat disappears if your working it out like that.
yes, crunches will help your muscles grow, but in order to get rid of fat, you must do cardio (or A LOT of crunches). running is a great way to do this.
your stomach is an organ in your abdominal cavity and should NEVER be visible.
No. The muscle is still there. I'd suggest doing some fat-burning excercises like running or swimming.
Flex your stomach and then poke it. If it's hard, you have muscle.

Will the human race destroy itself or will we die because the ozone layer will vanish?

so i have a few questions.

    1. Why will we all die?

    2. Will it hurt when we all die or will we just die?

3.Will we die when god comes?

you don't have to answer them all but you can. Will the human race destroy itself or will we die because the ozone layer will vanish?
    4. None of the above.

All the truth to these questions and more are found in The Bible. Will the human race destroy itself or will we die because the ozone layer will vanish?
Well since the ozone layer is repairing itself we will probably eventually destroy ourselves.

    1. Why? Because everyone on this earth has different beliefs and most are willing to die for them. This is what starts wars which causes so much killing/destruction.

    2. Depends. I don't know if you believe in God but i do and its written that he will take all his people before the end of the world comes and satan takes over. but if you refuse to take the mark of the beast (666) you will pay the ultimate sacrifice but you will be saved and be with God.

    3. The people who are not taken will face plagues and destruction so yes most of the earth will die.

If you believe in God just trust and believe in him. You can read more about this in the bible (the book of revelations) or message me. God bless!
i think the ozone layer is being destroyed by the human race, so i believe the first part of your question is one in the same.

Also death is part of the life cycle, we would not have life is there was no death, so its kinda mandatory. its like ying and yang.

I heard once from a teacher that some believe that when you die you stay in the state you died. Example.... if you were hit by a car, the pain you felt then you would feel for all eternity. Im not sure if that's true but its a interesting way to look at it.

How can you be sure god is going to come? have you ever seen him/her/it?

    Hope this helps

    :o)

    L.
Yes we will all die. Not necessarily at the same time but everyone dies eventually.

    1. Everyone dies eventually.

    2. For some it will probably hurt (if they happen to die in a fire or something else that is also painful)

    3. Don't worry God doesn't exist so he will never come.
As a Christian I am settled on several ideas:

    1) We will all die unless God intervenes.

    2) People die for all sorts of reasons.

    3) God has already said how the people will be treated: Those who are raised and have done good (trusted in Him) will gain eternal life; those who are raised and have done evil (not trusting Him), will be condemned.

    4) The entire Earth will be gone, and a New Heaven and New Earth will be established after the Judgment.
Yeah, unfortunately, we will probably destroy ourselves.

Ever see the original movie, ';The Day the Earth Stood Still?'; He comes here to warn us to stop the wars %26amp; fighting on earth, and that no visitor from another planet should be feared, because we will destroy ourselves from the inside out.

I am waiting for the rapture myself.

Go rent the movie, ';Left Behind'; with Kirk Cameron.
for the first...i think a little of both, except maybe not everyone...just most, i for one will be embattled in the mountains of alaska.

    1) we will all die because we, as a race, are sleepwalking.

    2) Considering the earth's time frame i expect it will take generations for us to die off...they'll be like ten people left and one will be trying to sell the last bit of drinking water to the other nine.

    3) I think god is here now?
since this problem is no longer and was terribly overblown by the media yet again (imagine that), a faulty premise leads to a faulty concluion.

however, to follow your rationalization and answer anyway,

    1. yes.

    2. yes. death by burning up and skin cancer.

    3. no such thing as god.

    4. care to try again?
    1. We all have sinned and the penalty of sin is death. No one can escape death or live forever.

    2. It depends on how you do die. Not every way of death is painful.

    3. When God returns and establishes the New Earth, there will be no such thing as death, except for the people who did not believe in him, but that will be before that happens.

    ^_^
(Matthew 24:21) for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.

Jesus words and prophecy,It had a fulfillment on Jerusalem 32 years later. Many of them fled to the mountains as Jesus told them to do,but many stayed. The ones that stayed were either taken as prisoners to Babylon or slaughtered in the city. This was a twofold prophecy also for the future. There the righteous ones will be saved.

(Revelation 7:13-14) And in response one of the elders said to me: “These who are dressed in the white robes, who are they and where did they come from?” 14 So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one that knows.” And he said to me: “These are the ones that come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

These ones will survive the end of this system ,it will not be the end of the earth.(Ecclesiastes 1:4) A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite.

Then there will be a new era.1000 year reign of Christ .(Revelation 21:3-4) With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
The ozone layer is actually doing fairly well, thanks to the banning of chlorofluorocarbons 20 years ago.

The current problem is global warming. In the worst case it will not result in the extinction of humanity (although the worst case is pretty bad).
If you are a believer Jesus Christ had this to say in The Book of John:

    John 14

1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jesus also said in John 11

    25

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
    1. Mortality (that's just how it is)

    2. Most death's are painful

    3. Revelations says that only most people will die.

But I think we'll be around until it is no longer biologically sound to call us Homo Sapiens.

    Peace and love.
That's a toughie. I still have hope for the human race. I think I'll just concentrate on that for now. Everything dies. Even the Universe and new things are born. Recycle renew is life. We'll go back to being in the belly of a star.
with global warming and al well prob die nd the whole cycle will start again! . . . like back to the olden days with horse and cart and all??? fossil fuels are running out!!!

duno bout the rest....guess ul just have te wait nd c nd hope 4 the best!!!xxx
the ozone layer wil nevr go lol its just green peace freaks obsesed with this sorta thing pay no attention we will blatently destroy our selves some mad basterd in the middle east will get his hands on a few nukes and that will be it ok simple and every no's it will happen
    1. We will eventually be wiped out because of our damage to the planet or war, something like that would be most likely.

    2. You never know until you die.

    3. Some of us will.
The way things are going, I presume a world war coming (nuclear at that)

unless you think your skin being burned off is painless, yea it will hurt and many will suffer

We wont die when God comes, but be made alive.
I can only answer the topic question

Well, humans ARE the main cause of the hole in the ozon. So we will probably die because of some extreme climatic change caused by the ozone layer which was destroyed by us.
    1. we won't for the next 1000 years so dont worry

    2. it will be quick and painless

    3. God won't come because hes not there, hes in our imaginations.
    1. We will all die because that is part of being an organic lifeform.

    2. It would depend on how you die.

    3. No one honestly knows.
i think people will destroy our own environment or we will blow each other up with huge bombs

the first one would probably hurt, we would choke and die off slowly, but a bomb would be quick and painless (i would imagine?)
humans will probly either die when the ozone leaves earth or the sun blows up in a few thousand or million years. if neither of that happens we'll probly blow each other up. and it WILL hurt :\ srry
No one really dies.Everyone live forever, not physically but spiritually.
    1. because we are all stupid

    2. We will all wear protective clothing and die normally

    3. GOD??? LOL
Oh no! God is coming and he's brought global warming with him! Run!
Both are happening its just a matter of which completes the process first?
hard to tell since humans seem to be moving in a more positive direction slowly but surely
    because no one lives forever

    depends on how you die

    there is no god
    nuclear war

    just die

    no
    who knows.......

How many percent of ultraviolet rays is reflected or absorbed by the ozone layer?

97-99% of the sun's high frequency ultraviolet which is almost all of it till polution started diminishing the Ozone layerHow many percent of ultraviolet rays is reflected or absorbed by the ozone layer?
there is no exact answer. it depends on where you live and what part of the ozone layer you are under. the ozone layer, to keep it simple, absorbs ultraviolet rays. it absorbs most of what the sun produces that reach the earth. How many percent of ultraviolet rays is reflected or absorbed by the ozone layer?
Way too much. Thus the reason we need to pollute more in order to destroy the entire ozone layer.
    it varies.

My first Pregnancy made the skin on my stomach rip to the last layer,?

when I got Pregnant I weighed 105lb and went up to 158 so after the birth and all the weigh lost my stomach looks like an old lady stomach, well I want to start working it out... but will that help will my stomach look a little better? I know I need a tummy tuck but I'm planning on having 1 more child so mean while I would like to make it as good as can. What can I do?My first Pregnancy made the skin on my stomach rip to the last layer,?
This worked for a friend she got The Firm workout tapes for the abs and she wore a plastic bag around her belly every time she excercised. It improved a lot.My first Pregnancy made the skin on my stomach rip to the last layer,?
I am pretty sure that your stomach looks the way it does because you did not oil it throughout your pregnancy. What i mean by oil is by putting lotion, baby oil or any type of cream on your entire body, especially your stomach and breast constantly. You should do this anytime you are pregnant because the skin stretches and keeping it moisturized would have prevented your stomach from looking how it is currently looking. Now doing this with your next pregnancy is not going to restore your stomach but it will prevent it from getting worst.
I weight 105 and is scary to think that my stomach will get like that....unfortunately once the skin is ripped there is no way back, if you are going to have a second child I suggest you wait for that tummy tuck....meanwhile exercise and use products that will help to reduce fine lines and prevent future ones....and next time you get pregnant make sure that you use products for you skin so new one will not rise....also start taking care of your breast they tend to rip to

How do i keep a multi layer cake from sliding apart when I ice it?

Before you ice your cake, slice a little off the top of each layer horizontally with a bread knife so that it is absolutely flatHow do i keep a multi layer cake from sliding apart when I ice it?
You can ice the layers seperately. And then when you get to the top, the icing should keep the other pieces together like glue. How do i keep a multi layer cake from sliding apart when I ice it?
Make sure your cake is not hot when you are icing it you could even stick it in the fridge before icing it. When using frosting make sure that it is not a runny type frosting. If you start getting really high, you can always use cake dowels run stick them straight down though the cake once you have all your layers on and before you start icing the entire cake.

    Good luck
Put a wooden skewer (like one used for kabobs or satay) through the center of the two layers.
oh what a good question...as i actually had a birthday cake ';slide'; apart....

Are you using a filling of some sort? Like a strawberry filling or a mousse? And how many layers exactly is the cake? 3, 4, 5?

if you are using a filling i would suggest doweling the cake.

also let your cake ';settle'; after you have filled it for AT LEAST an hour and then frost it.

If you aren't using a filling or are just using the frosting as the filling then make sure its a thick consistancy. you cake shouldn't slide if you are using a thick consistancy.

One thing to make sure is that your cake is supported....make sure you have a heavy duty cake board under it that will fully support it when you are moving it.

also if you are traveling. place the cake on the floor board...DO NOT set it on your lap.

  • Any Ideas on what to do with wavy/curly hair? I want to layer it, but will it make my hair poof when it drys?

Any tips on how to wear it, or how to cut it? I already have it tapered, but I want to layer it bcuz my hair is so thick but I dont know if thats a good idea since my hair is curly, with a little bit of wave in it. Any ideas will be great! Thanks So Much!Any Ideas on what to do with wavy/curly hair? I want to layer it, but will it make my hair poof when it drys?
i9 have curly/wavy hair and it is a pane in the but.maybe if u get your hair thinned and a strait pearm on it and then add some layers like me that would be pretty that is wat i did.%26lt;3Any Ideas on what to do with wavy/curly hair? I want to layer it, but will it make my hair poof when it drys?
why dont you try straightening it?

or use something that will make the frizz go down and mousse it?
girl, embrace your curl! there are so many people out there that are frying their hair off bc of straightening. embrace and flaunt it, dont straighten it...

ok, so it depends on your length of your hair. if its really long, you can do long layers and just thin it out a bunch.

if it's shorter, about to your shoulders, texturize it and layer it up, you gotta love how it looks and you can do so much with it! but thin it out here too, but not too much...

    goood luck!
If you have curly hair like me it's not a good idea to get layers, because the idea of getting layers in your hair is to add body. You could try getting long layers which are more centered towards the bottom of your hair, and wear it straight.
Curly/wavy hair is so cute! Put mousse in it, or some sort of gel that you can easily obatin at any drug store that holds down frizz and wear it curly!

If you don't like your curls...then buy a good straightener (I recommend getting one at a salon and not the cheap $20 ones...even though the ones from salons are MUCH more expensive...but trust me they are worth it.) and you can wear your hair straight when you feel like it. Hope I could help!
I have wavy/curly hair and have long layers, and my hair ended up being straighter!

I don't know how, but after getting layers my wavy/curly hair tamed down a bit. The only part of your hair that will be a tad puffy is the ends. I may suggest a straightner?
I love long flowing hair, but was once caught by the way Sharon on Will and Grace once wore her hair. very sassy if ya ask me
You know I have really curley hair and I have my hair layered, with side sweep bangs.

But I usually straighten my hair, so you should try that.

or if you don't feel like straightening it, try to get some gel to make it all curley.
well it depends on the texture hair you have or just get a relaxer or strighten it then put a part in the middle and cut it
i have curly hair to. Dont layer it!! Its gonna be terrible!! Im a young girl and I cut my bangs and now i have to iron them everyday!! I usually just put it down with a little gel and it will be tamed curly or I put it in a ponytail. Try not to put too many products then it will damage your hair. Hope this helps!!
I have curly hair, and I have the top layer cut about half the length of the bottom so that when I wear it in a ponytail or something the top doesn't get pulled back and looks all pretty and curly :]
    http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=a3js6s%26amp;s=3

    theres my hair.

WARNING: DO NOT, I REPEAT, GET IT LAYERED!

my hair is thick and if you get it layer, it will get BIG, POOFY, and EVEN THICKER.

    use curling mousse.

try gettin some bangs and straitening them.

I am considering hiring a block layer to set block on an addition on my home. What is the going rate per bloc

Block of what?I am considering hiring a block layer to set block on an addition on my home. What is the going rate per bloc
depends on how you set up the deal...if you buy all the block sand and mortar...have the footer poured and do all the mixing and stocking block...so that all i have to do is show up and lay them , i would need $2.00 a 8 in. block...

My friends and I have belly pooch post c-section. Someone said docs do not repair the layer of fat-?

they just stitch the skin and fascia and push the fat layer up- leaving even skinny minnies with a pooch? Is this true and why would they do that if it is disfiguring? Have you found a way to fix the pooch? My friends and I have belly pooch post c-section. Someone said docs do not repair the layer of fat-?
They don't do anything with the layer of fat because they can't. You can't stitch fat back to fat. That's why it is important not to gain alot of wait in pregnancy, and also why operating on obese people in general involves more of a risk, because air pockets can remain in fatty areas making a nice spot for infection.

My friends and I have belly pooch post c-section. Someone said docs do not repair the layer of fat-?
I don't have the pooch. I have to have another c-section in March so I guess I know sometime in the summer if it happens to me this time around.
I have had 3 c-sections and i have the pooch your talking about

What is the difference between a mask and a layer in Paint Shop Pro 8?

A mask is like an additional layer to a layer. It affects what you see on the layer and what is visible to the layer below. You can have part of a layer visible with a mask.

Masks offer more flexibility than just layers. What is the difference between a mask and a layer in Paint Shop Pro 8?
mask will cover completely a layer is where you can see what is underneath it where the transparent is.

Okay so i'm making a 7 layer dip, although i'm not sure if there will be 7 layers....?

    I have the following:

    Refried beans

    Sour cream

    salsa

    shredded lettuce

    tomatoes

    cheese

what order do you think I should put it?Okay so i'm making a 7 layer dip, although i'm not sure if there will be 7 layers....?
Your also need sliced black olives.

Good idea is to mix the taco seasoning with the sour cream.

If you use salsa, I would drain it for a few minutes in a strainer. I do this so that the dip doesn't get watery.

Don't forget your taco chips!!!! Use the ';Scoops'; by Frito-Lay.Okay so i'm making a 7 layer dip, although i'm not sure if there will be 7 layers....?
    beans 1st.

    then sourcream,

    salsa,

    lettuce

    tomatoes

    sprinkle with cheese
This is how I make it, you can just omit the guacamole if you don't want to use it

    refried beans

    guacamole

sour cream mixed with taco seasoning

    black olives

    green onions

    tomatoes

    cheddar cheese.

    Enjoy!
    Beans

    salsa

    (Guacamole)

    sour cream

    lettuce

    tomatoes

    cheese
The one change we always had is we would mix the sour cream with a packet of taco seasoning. We used guacamole instead of salsa, since we have diced tomatoes, and also have diced black olives.

Other than that, the order you have it in is the oder we layer it.
You forgot the layer of guacamole dip, that goes over the refried beans ... otherwise, your order is fine
I make my layer dip with cooked ground beef which I add taco seasoning to. Layer it in this order beans, meat (if using), salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes. If you don't use meat, mix the taco seasoning with the beans; you want to keep the sour cream as white and clean as possible.

Would we be able to see space during the day if assuming that there was no ozone layer?

    No.

Space is non-matter. You can't see it. It doesn't reflect light.Would we be able to see space during the day if assuming that there was no ozone layer?
Of course one sees ';space'; anywhere, everywhere, and at anytime whether, or not, it's day, or night. All ya hafta' do is look out at the sky and there it is, ups, that's the atmosphere (the ozone layer is just part of the atmosphere), but beyond the atmosphere, there it is ';space';, it's only about 8 minutes away from anyone on Earth. That is to say that, if one were on the space shuttle and being sent into ';space';. When one sees the moon, during the day, one is also looking at ';space';.

One of the only reasons that one doesn't see the stars, during the day, is that they are so far away and so very faint. However, they (the stars) are there in the same place (well, almost, cause they don't move very fast). We see them (the stars) at night cause it's dark out.Would we be able to see space during the day if assuming that there was no ozone layer?
We do see it. The sun is in space and sometimes the moon is visibble during the day as well. We don't see most stars because they are washed out by the light of the sun. However, you can see stars by day if you know where to find them. I once followed Jupiter through a cheap telescope in my front yard from just before sunrise until almost noon. People thought I was crazy until I let them look through my telescope and they saw it for themselves.
The ozone layer blocks and lot of ultraviolet light and scatters visible light a little bit. ALL of the atmosphere glows a little bit during the day from sunlight. You'd need to get rid of the air entirely to get rid of that effect. Put simply, it's not the ozone layer that makes the sky blue.
No because the atmosphere is still there. The ozone layer does have and effect on it through. The wost the ozone layer does is just blur it a little (very little).
No, the ozone layer is virtually transparent. It has no effect on how well we can see into space.
    we do see space now

  • Anyone got a good recipe for a 9x13 chocolate layer cake?

You should check out www.allrecipes.com They are a GREAT source for recipes and it's totally free! You can sign up if you want, but you dont have to - just find one you like and print it! I use it all the time. Just pay attention to the star ratings. The more stars the better!Anyone got a good recipe for a 9x13 chocolate layer cake?
I have used a recipe from the CAKE MIX DOCTOR for a chocolate cake several times and it is awesome.

Start with a devils food cake mix from a box.

Substitute the water it calls for with butter milk. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Use the same number of eggs and same amount of oil that the box calls for. Bake as directed.

This cake is awesome with Peanut Butter icing.

    1 Cup creamy Peanut Butter

1 stick butter - softened to room temperature

    2 cups Powdered sugar

    3 to 4 Tablespoons milk

    2 teaspoons vanilla

Cream the peanut butter with butter until smooth. Add vanilla and half of the powdered sugar (does not need to be exact). Add 2 Tablespoons of milk and mix well. Add remainder of powdered sugar. Slowly add milk until the icing is the consistency you want it to be for easy spreading. You may not need all of the milk, or you may need slightly more.

    Enjoy

How do you figure out the # of electrons per layer when creating a Bohr model?

Electrons = Protons and protons = Atomic number

so hydrogen has 1 proton 1 electron on the first layer

Aluminum is 13 its layers would be

    2-8-3

The first layer of an atom always holds 2 electrons. Period.

Every layer after that holds 8 until we reach the last layer. A layer needs 8 electrons in it to move on to the next level. How do you figure out the # of electrons per layer when creating a Bohr model?
There's a basice trend to the Bohr model. The first level has just two electrons. The second can have 8. The third can also have 8. The fourth can have up to 18. Just look at your periodic table. It's pretty much modeled after the way an atom has its electrons. The first level is the same as the first shell. There are two elements so there can be two electrons.

Would it look alright if i put my bottom layer pink?

Can simple thin-layer chromatography separate diastereoisomers?

TLC separats compounds based on the compound's prefernce in associating with the TLC plate or the solvent. Meaning, the compound of interest need to be different in solubility in the solvent used or have preference in the adsorption to the TLC adsorbent.

Remember that all isomers have the same molecular formula, same molecular mass, same functional groups. Therefore, it's not possible to separate isomers including diastereoisomers.

Chiral HPLC columns can separate isomers, but it's not cheap. Theoretically, if there's a TLC sorbent that is chiral, then it is possible to separate isomers on TLC. However, I'm not aware of such TLC sorbent. Can simple thin-layer chromatography separate diastereoisomers?
I don't think so. I would rather use chiral column chromatography.

My left eye has a creasing of its outer layer in the bottom left. Do i need to be worried?

oh i get that fromtime to time its when your eyes are dry the skin seems to crease a little put some cool boiled water in an egg cup place your eye over it then tilt back try to keep ur eye open.If it continues go the chemist for eye drops as when theyre dry they can get a little infected ok hunMy left eye has a creasing of its outer layer in the bottom left. that's weird.

I would go to the eye doctor. This doesn't sound normal.

Can I have scene hair even if the top layer is a bit longer than usual?

I want scene hair, right? But the top layer is supposed to be short, and when my hair is short, it's curly! Plus, I don't want to have to straighten it every day. Could I still pull it off if the top layer is a bit longer than normal. (About to my shoulders)? Can I have scene hair even if the top layer is a bit longer than usual?
Don't go for any labeled hairstyle. Do what YOU like. Not what the kids are doing these days. I was like you back when. And I regret it. So do whatever you really like. It's your hair! Can I have scene hair even if the top layer is a bit longer than usual?
Face it .. Curly hair and scene hair just don't work. If you want an elaborate style, you have to be willing to put time into it everyday.
toatally, i was a little scenester but i grew up. lots of maturing happens from 14 to 16

anyway good idea not comiting to the retarded cut.

    yeah good luck
    It wont look as scene

but you could try teasing it more at the top
I don't think it will look the same. You just can't get the volume with hair that long.
you could youd just have to use a bit more product to get volume...

How To cut a Layer in Photoshop?

    I have a 3-layer project:

-Layer 3 is the deepest, it forms the background

-Layer 2 is not spreading on the whole image, only a part in the middle.

-Layer 1 is the problem, I wanna cut it to be just like Layer 2 in its borders.

Any Ideas? How To cut a Layer in Photoshop?
its kind of hard to tell from your question, but it sounds like you want to erase part of Layer 1 so that the other layers show through?

If so, there are a variety of ways:

You can use the eraser tool, that erases freeform areas just like a pencil. (shift E)

You can use the Marque selection tool (shift M) to drag a box around the parts you want to delete, then hit delete.

If you wanted to cut just part of the layer, and make a new layer with it, you could use the Marque selection and select ';Layer%26gt;New%26gt;Via Cut';. Then you can just delete the original Layer 1 with the scraps.

What layer of skin that contains the blood vessels and nerves closet to the surface of of the skin is?

The upper layer of the slin is called the 'epidermis'. It contains no blood vessels or nerves. Blood nourishes this layer by diffusion.

The middle layer of the skin, the layer that is asked about in this question is called the 'dermis' and conatins blood vessels, nerves and other structures.

The lower layer of the skin is called the 'sub-cutis' and contains fat.

I would say that the dermis would be your answer there.

Whats the big deal with the mesh layer in pampers swaddlers and cruisers diapers? how does it work?

i dont see how they keep the poop away from baby... can anyone explain? also, i can notice any extra air flow. whats the big significance? Whats the big deal with the mesh layer in pampers swaddlers and cruisers diapers? how does it work?
The biggest thing I saw was not that it kept anything away from Baby's skin, other than the filling in the diaper. Unlike Huggies and Luvs which sometimes come apart, the Pampers liner is stopped by this netting.

How do i move more than one layer at a time in gimp?

I created a gif animation of a moving flag, i saved the file then imported it into the picture of the flag pole. but the when i import the gif it drops all the layers in the middle of the picture. i want to move all of them at the same time so i don't have to take a million years aligning them. i've tried using shift and clicking them individually, it doesn't work.

on a side note, I'm using a mac, i don't know if that makes a difference. How do i move more than one layer at a time in gimp?
In the Layers dialog (if you don't have it open already, go to Windows%26gt;Dockable Dialogs%26gt;Layers), lock each layer that you want to move as a group (click the box between the eye icon and the layer icon to make a chain-link icon appear). Then use your move tool to move one of the locked layers and all the rest will move along with it.

My 7-layer dip usually has more layers, but here you go - from bottom to top: layer of refired black bean, layer or refried bean, layer of guacamole, layer of sour cream (with taco seasoning mixed in), layer of sliced black olive, layer of sliced scallion, layer of diced tomato, layer of diced jalapeno, layer of jack cheese, layer of cheddar cheese
I would recomend heating the beans and adding a bit of water to them. this will make it easier to spread in the pan and easier to get onto the chip. alot of brands of refried beans are on the thick pasty side. It is much better to have the beans a little bit thinner without being runny so that the chip does not break off when dipped.
