How To cut a Layer in Photoshop?

I have a 3-layer project:

-Layer 3 is the deepest, it forms the background

-Layer 2 is not spreading on the whole image, only a part in the middle.

-Layer 1 is the problem, I wanna cut it to be just like Layer 2 in its borders.

Any Ideas? How To cut a Layer in Photoshop?
its kind of hard to tell from your question, but it sounds like you want to erase part of Layer 1 so that the other layers show through?

If so, there are a variety of ways:

You can use the eraser tool, that erases freeform areas just like a pencil. (shift E)

You can use the Marque selection tool (shift M) to drag a box around the parts you want to delete, then hit delete.

If you wanted to cut just part of the layer, and make a new layer with it, you could use the Marque selection and select ';Layer%26gt;New%26gt;Via Cut';. Then you can just delete the original Layer 1 with the scraps.
